APWEN CELEBRATES WITH ENGR FELICIA AGUBATA

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) awarded five scholarships worth over $18,000 each for Training. Apwen Celebrates with Felicia Nnena Agubata who was the only African that bags the sch ICOA(International Civil Aviation Organization scholarship ) five for the year.
Engr.(Mrs.) Felicia Nnenna Agubata (MNSE), a Principal  Air Traffic Engineer with Nigerian Airspace management Agency , NAMA(an Air Navigation Service provider, ANSP)  bags a  scholarship from the Air Navigation Bureau of the international Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). She is a second class upper Division degree holder of Computer Science and Engineering from the renowned Enugu state university of Science and Technology, Enugu, Enugu State.
Engr. Agubata was among the five women in the global aviation industry awarded scholarship by ICAO to train on Aerodrome, air routes and Ground Aids in Montreal Canada in June 2010 for two months.  She received the award on 27th February 2010 in Orlando Florida during the 21st women in Aviation conference along with two Canadians and two Americans making her the only African on the ICAO 2010 scholarship award list.
She received the award on the Aerodrome, Air Routes and Ground Aids from the Director General of ICAO. She is to receive $15,000: 00 worth of training from the global aviation body for a period of two months.
In her own words she said “The award is a confirmation that Nigeria,APWEN has the potentials of making positive impact in the world and personally it will spur me to always strive for excellent service in engineering.”

The Association of Professional Women Engineer of Nigeria (APWEN) was formed by to be a pressure group since most men hiring engineers then would rather have women in the kitchen and not on construction sites nor behind the desk carrying out engineering designs.
